Mark Kahn MD, FACS

Dr. Mark Kahn was born on Long Island and grew up in Manhattan, where he attended high school, playing varsity tennis and soccer, and where he was awarded a Mayor's Committee Scholarship for college. He attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he graduated cum laude in English literature. In 1970, he attended the Albany Medical College of Union University and was awarded his MD degree in 1974. He then completed a surgical residency at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, and also participated in renal transplantation at Cornell University. In 1978, he was awarded the Leon Ginsberg Prize for Outstanding Surgical Resident. Following residency, Dr. Kahn completed the vascular fellowship at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and then joined the practice of Englewood Surgical Associates in 1980. Dr. Kahn was the transplant coordinator for Englewood Hospital prior to 1990 and has been the Director of the Surgical Teaching Program for the past 15 years, supervising the training of medical students from the University of Pennsylvania and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, surgical residents from the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and vascular fellows at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Kahn has lectured nationally and internationally on subjects in vascular surgery. He also has maintained an active interest in surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands, with experience developed over the past 20 years. For 10 years, prior to insurance coverage of screening mammography, Dr. Kahn directed the annual Breast Screening Clinic at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center sponsored by the American Cancer Society. He has innovated many procedures and devices applicable to chemotherapy and dialysis, with many difficult problems referred to him from outside the Bergen County area including New York and Pennsylvania.
The combination of imaginative and safe surgery, and advanced non-surgery interventional/radiological approaches by Dr Wengerter have been highly effective, yielding the best results in New Jersey.

His office practice also includes the treatment of cosmetic vein problems, complex or recurrent hernias, and non-healing wounds, as well as the full spectrum of general, abdominal, and laparoscopic surgery, and vascular diseases.

Dr. Kahn is married, has four sons and resides in northern Bergen County. He does not play golf but in his spare time, he has coached soccer, baseball and basketball and directed the town soccer program with great success for ten years.
